Distributor

I had to pull the distributor out to install a new ignition module. I was putting the distributor back in a notice a small plastic piece laying where I pulled out the distributor. This piece looks like it could slip on the bottom of the dist. shaft. Anyone know what this is

Might be a retainer to help hold the oil pump driveshaft at the factory level.
