The one that always makes me laugh is the little spinner
thingie that you put in the intake. All that work to smooth
out the airflow and then you go chuck in some obstruction that
makes turbulence and restricts airflow.

Ebay can be great but you need to be a saavy shopper and look at the sellers rating. I don't usually deal with anyone with less than a 98% rating. As a seller there are people that you can't make happy if you give it to them.
I've had over 250 eBay transactions. I would say 95% being auto parts. Of those, only 2 went bad and 1 had to be resolved with a dispute.
My first bad one was a chrome bug shield for my Superduty. The guard only covered the hood above the grill, it kinda looked like the Dodge bug guard(ugly). The guy just had me return it and sent my money back.
Second issues was with a Precision weatherstrip kit where I received all but one piece. It happened to be the windshield gasket and the guy accused me of removing it from the kit and basically stealing it. Paypal resolved it for me with the package weight. It weighed the same as it did when it was shipped to me after I supposedly took the gasket out.
I guess its easier buying from eBay stores rather then individuals. Its bad that certain dishonest people can ruin it for others.
I've used ebay numerous times including buying my Harley there. Only one disappointed purchase and I didn't read the description close enough. One misinterpreted word can change the whole meaning. You do have to be diligent but I will keep using it. The money I've saved far exceeds what I may have lost.

Your right. I buy and sell on Ebay all the time. No problems. Watch out for the newbs (easier to just give them there money back) and stay away from the mass produced overseas junk.
It's no different than that instinct buy crap you see at the parts store registers when your waiting to check-out.
I've sold several things on ebay and have bought several things on ebay.. only problem I had was when I sold a winch to a guy it was to big to ship via ups so I shipped it on a pallet and via motor freight so in a email from the same account his paypal account used he asked me to ship it to his work so I did. a month later he disputed the charges and since I didn't ship it to the address that was attached to his paypal account paypal took the money back out of my account. I even sent paypal the email from him where he asked me to send it to his work addy and the freight company had him sign for the pallet when they dropped it off.. so I sent him to a collection agency..after a yr I got my money..
you can get some great deals on ebay but you can also get screwed on ebay and it doesn't matter if you buying or selling..
now when I sell on ebay it ships to a confirmed address that paypal has and that's it. no confirmed address no paypal send me a money order or no sale..
If you just watch you can get some great deals on e-bay.in fact that's where I just got my new sct x4 and saved enough money I can get first custom tune for the the price everybody else wanted for just the tuner.
I buy a ton of stuff on eBay -- agree you want to search at a high level and try different spellings (and use the search words in the listing option). I've also found this works quite well on Craigslist too...
Don't sell too much -- must be why my garages are stacked to the rafters
For the China/other off planet stuff: I only buy from US sellers with good ratings that ship from the US. Have had problems? yes. But these guys do volume with a capital V and usually just send out another unit, no questions asked...
