HPOP line new issue

Had a line blow a couple weeks ago and replaced the hose and now the damn end that connects to the head keeps popping off. Swapped ends to see if It was the hose or the nipple and it still blew off. HPOP side is fine no matter which end I use. IS the head side a different size Is there a o ring on the nipple itself that's maybe missing that I cant see. I looked at the other nipples and there dosent seem to be an o ring on those either. Anyway any help would sure be apppriciated!!!

The hoses I got off Ebay.

2001 Ford F250 192, 000 miles 7.3. 5 speed. Its the passenger side head side that's popping off.

The fitting on the head will have an o-ring, an o-ring spacer and a metal ring clip inside it. The black plastic sleeve on the line fitting is what releases the metal clip from the shoulder on the hose fitting; make sure it's pulled all the way up on the fitting when you insert the hose fitting into the head fitting. When you push the fittings together, you should hear and feel a distinct snap when they lock.

Ok I think I see the potential problem I was looking on the outside of the nipple for an o ring. The o ring is on the inside and I don't see one. Whats the best way to go about replacing the oring can you do it in the truck or does a guy take the whole fitting out. PArt numbers anyone can help with. thanks again Pikuchu, you helped me out on the last issue.

If the o-ring and/or backer were missing, you should have a pretty sizable leak. It sits fairly deep inside the fitting, so you may have to soak some of the oil out and use a flashlight to see it. Here's a technical illustration:

Bob at dieselorings.com carries the fittings as well as the o-ring kits, but if you can't wait for shipping, a decent hydraulics shop that carries Eaton Aeroquip STC fittings should have it also.

Ya I can wait. Thanks a lot. Ya the first one is definitely missing and that would cause the hose to pop off. The next one I cant see yet. Ill just pull the whole fitting so I know what Ive got. Have a good one and thanks again for your help. Ya it don't take long, just cranking it over pops the line off!!!

You're welcome. It sounds like it just isn't seating properly. Sometimes you have to rock them back and forth a little while you press them in. But if you need to, the ones on the heads are no big deal to remove; they don't need loctite when you reinstall them. They get torqued to 19 ft/lbs if memory serves me.

When I installed new HPOP hoses the passenger side head fitting did not want to seat. It popped off and glorped oil all over the GPCM, twice. Fittings looked clean and whole, no problem I could see. Third time I tapped it lightly with a small ball peen and drift punch, problem solved.

Ya, the clip was definitely gone. Never did hear a click when I popped it on and so uh...... ya. Got everything ordered and hopefully this will get me back on the road without going back to the car wash again and spending another 22 bucks for a gallon of oil.
