Hey guys i have searched for a while now and can't find the info i need so here is my questions. I am going to have EVCO build me my own HPX line. I can get it for about 30 dollars so i can't afford not to. It is going to be a soft line. so here are my questions for those who know.
1. What PSI would the hose need to be. and what size......
2. I know i need adapters to go into the head what angle works best. 45* , 22.5 * ect. Strait in the head and 45*'s on the end of the hose...... ect....
3. what type fittings work the best for the hose and fitting.; JIC, smooth face O-Ring........ect......
4. i am going to have them put a fire shield around the hose good to about 800 to 1000 degrees. is that enough seeing it is right by the turbo.
5. once i install do i need to leave one fitting loose to try and bleed out the air.
Thanks for your help guys i would just buy one but with money this tight i can't pass up a chance to make my own i just need a little guidance to get it right.
IIRC, my hose was 1/4'' ID. It should be rated for, at least, 4000psi working pressure. It had 45* JIC ends and attached to the head with straight ORB fittings. Sounds like you got everything else covered. No need to bleed the line. Just connect it up and the air will work its way out in time.
I'm not sure that the fire sleeve is really necessary, but it can't hurt anything. I've been running a soft hose without the shield for about two years now, and the only issue I have is a tiny bit of weeping at the fitting joint in the head which will be fixed by removing and resealing the threads on the re-install effort.
Just make sure they use a good motor oil compatible hose material and that the entire hose system (not just the hose specs alone) is good for the pressures Roland mentioned above.
