Mods and swaps
How much custom stuff would need to be done to put the engine (351m), tranny, transfer, axles and suspension from a 77 F150 into/onto a 66? I'm not thinking it would be hard, as long as the 66 is wide enough right? Drive shafts may have to be changed because the 77 is a short bed. Would there be anything crazy I'd have to do that I'm not thinking about?

Other than that engine being a turd, bring the perches and it will bolt right in. You can swap the 77 I-beams and power steering all at the same time, for a power steering, power disc brake upgrade. All bolt hole exchange Ford factory engineered.

1973/79 F100/150 short beds have a 117" wheelbase vs 1966 F100's that have a 115" wheelbase.
1973/79 F100/150 inner rear frame rail width behind the cab is 37 1/2" vs 1965/72's 33 1/2."
