Hello all, just bought a 66 F 100 with Armstrong steering. I want to convert it to power steering. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks
I completed the swap several years ago using parts from a 1972 F-250 and it is all a bolt on swap. You will want to grab the left hand engine perch because the one on your pickup will interfere with the installation of the power steering gearbox. Of course you will want the gearbox, pump, brackets on the engine, and the steering column as the power steering one is shorter since the gearbox is a little longer. The parts off of trucks through 1979 will bolt on, the only thing to watch is the engine brackets since they switched engines in 1977.
IMHO I would buy a donor truck for cheap get all the power steering parts, and I would find a pickup from 1973 to 1979 so you can remove the power disk brakes for the front end. I also completed that swap this summer and you can see the pictures in my gallery. That is just my 2 cents though.
