I use my 2 car garage with the doors down. Park a known good car with the lights on and shining on one door and the "project" car facing the 2nd garage door with the lights on. Align the lights so they match the focus point of the good car and good to go. Has worked perferct for me so far.
Ya can buy an inexpensive tool at most parts stores. Or borrow one. It
just snaps over the head light and gives a straight solid beam to adjust.
If ya can look at the tool at the parts store ya can go home and do the
same damn thing with Gorilla tape.
The quickest way that I have found is park I'm on a level piece of ground at about 15-20 feet away from a wall. On a 55 you need to remove the trim ring on the headlight so you can get at the adjusting screws then adjust the beam so that the center portion of the light on the wall is at the same height or just slightly lower than the measured heights of the headlamp from the ground. That will be for your up and down adjustment. For your left to right adjustment what I always do is stand at the back of the vehicle look down the edge of the vehicle and on the respective side make the right headlight slightly right off it's mounted location in the vehicle and the left headlight same thing, that way it lights up the edge of roadway on the low beams and not into the eyes of oncoming drivers.
