Updated the egr cooler and when i got it back from the mechanic, it was not running smooth. This morning the idle is very hard and code P2284 popped up. Could this have occurred due to the egr cooler upgrade? Did the mechanic do something incorrect. Was running perfect before the egr cooler.
Any ideas what it could be or what i should look for. The mechanic was highly recommended and was told they specialize in diesel engines, which is why i took it to them.
Thanks for your help

It could be either dummy plugs or the STC fitting.
The STC fitting will cause a crank, no start hot condition. Whereas dummy plugs let you know you're on borrowed time with long, hard starts as an early warning sign.
I don't see how your mechanic could have handed you back a truck that wasn't running right. He really should have addressed atleast the STC fitting while he had the top side apart.
