I have a 2012 F250 Lariat with 70k miles on it and the check engine light just came on. I brought it to the dealer and the code came up as P0401. They cleared it and said it was nothing. I drove 125 miles and it came back on again. Brought it back to the dealer and it came up with the same code. So the dealer now believes it is a flow issue with the EGR. They said however that according to the TSB 13-6-5 when they did a KOER (key on engine running) they did NOT get a DTC P2457. Now they are talking to ford engineers to figure out what to do as they do not beleive it is a blockage in the EGR cooler. Has anyone ever gotten the P0401 code without the P2457. Does anyone have any advise? Thnks

 

Yes, that was the case with my 2011. ended up being plugged egr cooler, which they replaced under the 5yr/100k warranty.

EGR cooler is what is the most common with the code.
