So this is a continuation of me plugging my own oil cooler during a coolant flush. -note to self we will NOT be flushing the other 6.0l truck .
So with the oil cooler being next i figured id pull the cab to make life easy. (i hear to R&R the cab is two hours.), and install a Garrett Powermax turbo, and replace the up-pipes.
I'm trying to determine if it makes sense to replace the head gaskets and install head studs? They are not leaking, but since i'm not familiar with the 6.0; i don't know if i'm supposed to be worried about it..
I know the head gaskets were replaced about 50k miles ago by the previous owner, if that makes a difference?
When one replaces head gaskets i would think it makes sense to have the heads rebuilt?
Or should i leave the cab on, and just bang out the oil cooler and turbo stuff?

Considering your gaskets are only 50K old, I would recommend only doing your oil cooler and turbo. Might not hurt to throw out the EGR cooler at this point ... (Maybe you already did?)
My experience is...if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Im in the same group as these fine fellows, if there is not a problem don't mess with it and I wouldn't pull the cab to do your oil cooler.
It takes 10 min to pull a turbo, oil cooler, egr cooler and up pipes is a 5 hour job cab on. If its your first run at it it will take alot longer. Pulling a cab for that is a waste. It will take you longer on the first run at that as well.
Cheezit is the only man on earth that can pull the turbo in 10 minutes, it takes the rest of us an hour.
I agree with the rest, I wouldn't change the gaskets, once they are torqued properly they don't experience much trouble. My 06 made it through months of a blown egr cooler, lots of towing and other stuff for 230,000 miles and never popped a gasket - they were torquing them properly by that year. And if you're not doing the head gaskets, I sure wouldn't pull the cab.

Ha, gotchya beat. I pulled my turbo in 8min in a fit of rage.
Maybe the factory head bolts/gaskets aren't as big of a problem as i thought. I guess ill wait on the head gaskets/studs...
Is there a good way to monitor the gaskets? -before i bought the truck, I took it to a diesel shop and they gave me a print out, showing me all the cylinders held the same pressure. I don't think my AE has that capability..
Also who is making up pipes for these 6.0's?
I googled and found only 2 companies, and a third MBRP i could pre order from.
