front end rebuild again

hi all,

no its not all catastrophic. lol. but since i have a leak coming out the inside of the front pumpkin and its slowly coming down the axle shaft and leaking out the axle dust seal and onto my lower ball joint, i figured i would go ahead and start prepping for this project. it only leaks when i engage 4wd, which i haven't engaged since i found the leak. been a while. also, i'm gonna change out the front differential cover. i'm going with Mag-Hytec. just an o-ring. no need for sealant. takes more gear oil.

guys, if i can grab ur attention, please tell me what i'm dealing with.

1. special tools?

2. parts? i'm guessing it's basically the inner seals at the pumpkin. part numbers would help if y'all got any.

3. torque settings? removal & install procedure?

4. what type of gear oil? which one? i'm guessing 75w90 but i could be wrong. any gear oil with friction modifier in it already? tat may help tons.

thanks guys.

Don't forget about the outer axle and hub seal. There is a special tool for the hub seal install.

so i'm guessing i gotta redo the axle dust seals and the hub seals again? even if i'm not removing them? i mean, i'm gonna just pull out the splines and just do tat inner most seal for the differential. i'm thinking tats it.

got done talking to Sean. boy, did we lose track of time. lol. thanks guys!

benny, when i had tat front end rebuild the first time, i let someone else handle it. now, i'm trying to tackle it myself, but i'm gonna be slowly buying new parts and seals to accumulate before i'm ready to tear into it.

Don,
Now after some feeding and getting the blood sugar back where it belongs
I can think a but clear and what I am thinking is you may be able to get
away with reusing them if you careful when you remove then. Slow and Easy.

Don't forget to PM me you mailing address.

The sizes are different so I don't think so.

SECTION 205-03 Front Differential .pdf (440.9 KB, 9 views)

I think the one goes into just the pumpkin and the other does a bit more.
