Thanks !
the Air /fuel gauge was the odd ball gauge so didn't want to squeeze it in the custom cluster . I think i'll just recover the pod with same material , taking my time this time .
really nice build! that rear view mirror looks real close to the mirror in my '66 mustang.
Yeah right, I've seen one on ebay before but don't know if it mounts flush up like this 67 trucks do.
The chrome shop did a really nice job of rounded off all the sharp casting points before plating it.
I saw a 1967 on ebay not long a ago nos one that had a dent in it like from what looks like from being dropped with the attached mirror bruising the soft metal where the mirror would fold upward making contact with bracket arm. It went for like $78 bucks with S&H.
I figured hell, I could just get mine chromed for what it went for and did.
Nice work Mike, I like it all, and the smiths gauges are just the right touch. Had an old BSA in the mid 60's with Smith's.. Love that look. Its the attention to details, that makes your truck unique, and personal. Pride in ownership, is personal, and we all empathize with the effort. Kudos to you bro.
Does anybody make an after market pillar gauge holder for our old Bumps? That is a great idea amigo, and very nice fab job.. I am wondering if I could use PVC pipe and fiberglass over it, if the resin would not eat the PVC.?? I am thinking that a 45 degree street L, and cutting half or 2/3 off the main part so it would fit with the pillar?? Comments?? most welcome.. humor too..
Stumbled across this. Would work if someone was already making their own headliner.
Or this if the dash pad is removed and holes filled. Including the speaker holes.
I searched long and hard for a Pillar pod for our trucks , No one makes them .
I thought about the PVC route but figured it might end up to square and thick . So bought the 94 f150 pod and used it for the general shape . It was only like $20 if I remember right .
In re-thinking this, I believe that a PVC fitting may be too thick, as commented on by Mike, and in looking at the pillar angle, on our Bumps, it appears to be too vertical to use a PVC 'street L' or the 45 deg angle fitting... well, nothing is easy, if it was, anybody could do it.
Exhaust tubing and welded into a wireframe.. polyester fleece stretched over and then resin applied to harden. Apply filler and sand, sand, sand. Prime, paint, assemble, and mount.
I think it was 80/20 loop dark saddle . Been Awhile
You can request Free samples , I got like 12 different samples and compared to my oatmeal tweed fabric and paint .
