oh my gosh! I totally thought that the "your truck can catch on fire any time running or not" comment on there was sarcastic!!! I actually laughed out loud when i read it.
What a bummer. The garage got pretty toasty too, hope you didnt lose much in there. Seems to me the fire may have started at the booster. The concentration of heat and damage looks central there.
Sorry for your loss. That really sucks.
Im sure almost every one of us went and checked for the jumper and fuse. Mine is good to go.
even if you have the recall done, it still didn't address the problem with faulty switches
My 2002 had previously had the recall done. When I bought her, the current switch had failed and was leaking oil. The fuse was blown. Only problem is that when they routed the wires, it left an oil leak path for the leaking brake fluid to get to the main wire bundle. luckily I didn't have another short anywhere to generate heat.
sorry for your loss. it's early, but are you looking at getting a replacement X or something else?
Dang, sorry for your loss. When I saw the picture of the Ex, the garage and the front of the car, I wanted to run right out and check my truck- and I don't even have cruise control...
Sadly, that pic reminds me of two of the burned Ex's I've tried to bid on lately- but lost the auctions (yes, I'm so desperate for an Ex project that I'm attempting to buy burned ones).
Sure hope insurance and/or Ford makes good on what you lost, though I wouldn't hold my breath for Ford- my best friend's truck (96 I think) burned at night parked in front of his house. Ford jockied him around for over a year, when he gave up and junked the truck. Then Ford washed their hands of it because he didn't own it anymore...
