the late model controller see's the temp of the glows by there resistance, and will limit the time frame of the heating cycle. there is no temp sensor on the block of the late model 7.3 controllers. most controllers when the resistance is out of spec due to burnt out or bad connections or the wrong glow plugs, it will only heat the plugs for four seconds, each time the power to the controller is cycled by the key this is why you have to attempt to start two or more times. watch your dome lite it will dim when heating, sometimes when the controller fails it will fail to this minimum heating time. a properly working controller will lite the WTS lite for a short time when one or more gps are bad if they are the proper feedback type gps, IMO use only ZD9 gp's for the 7.3 also the controller will only keep the gp's hot for two minuets then shut off power to the controller unless the key is cycled again.
