I started my truck yesterday for the first time in about 2 months. It idled fine for ten, fifteen minutes. Then all of a sudden it would idle really high (tach doesn't work so not sure what rpm) an make a knocky kind of sound (the oil level is fine), then it would idle back to normal and smooth right out, pur like a kitten. I know its not the high idle solenoid because as I watched it never moved. I did notice the front three injectors return line caps on the right side are leaking now, not sure if that's related to the problem. Thank you for any help.
My 6.9 speeds up and slows down when on the rear tank when going along. Pretty sure the pickup needs repairing. Common problem from what I hear, the shower head of doom.
the 7.3 factory filter head has a return line at the top of it, with a orfice and check valve to remove air before it is pumped to the IP, if this has been omitted any and all air that is sucked from the tank is sent to the ip, and may cause this surge, as it may destabilize the ip pressure, or the governor may be sticking. as long as a connecting rod is not sticking out of the pan drive it like you stole it
