You might want to try searching 4x4x2 box. I believe it is a 150 4x4 box or 78/79 bronco box with the rotation reversed. I used the 4x4x2 box for my highboy conversion. It mounts to the outside of the frame and works great.
I believe the bronco and 150s had the same box both mount to the outside I think. What did you use to make this work. I've heard of people doing this that's why I'm curious. If you have the details I'd love to hear them. Thanks I'd forgot the highboys had the divorced np205 transfer case as well and had 3ddrive shafts.
Oh yeah I checked two classic salvage yards and one had a wrecked highboy that the inspection sticker said 92 and the other had a 2wd 350 but I really don't want to go that route. but there both looking for one now so may have some luck later. May have to buy a new one if I want to use the 78/79 250.
Man thats awesome! Thanks for the info. What I was thinking was very similar but I didn't think anything about the 20 degree index. That's good stuff thanks for the post!
Remember, if you go this route, you have to reverse your box rotation. Red head did it for me. You can also go to West Coast Bronco and they have a DIY tutorial.
I believe it requires you to change out some internals from a later box.
I'm assuming you tied in like the factory set up running the box to the driver side spindle? Do you think I could run it out to where the assist cylinder bolted to the tie rod like the f150 set up? I always thought that would be easier on the box and better parts life. My main concern would be will it hit the leaf spring if it was to get jared real hard like on a logging trail or rut? Any input on this? She will see a little 4x4 but nothing extreme mostly in 4 low back in the mountain cutting wood or fencing.
