Looking for something specific
We are rebuilding a 1972 F150. We can't find the emissions decal for it. It's a D8TE. We can find that code for everything but the emissions decal. If anyone has any idea where to find it, your help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!!!
FoMoCo offered as an option, an F100 Heavy Duty Special in 1970/72, came w/a 9" that has a 9 3/8" ring gear, 31 spline axle shafts and Traction Lok. This rear axle has a 3,600 lb. capacity.
All other 1957/72 F100's with 9's have 28 spline axle shafts w/a 3,300 lb. rear axle capacity. 1968/72 F100's use different 28 spline axle shafts than 1957/67 F100's.
We can't find the emissions sticker
for it. It's a D8TE.
As previously mentioned, F150's were introduced in 1975. What are you referring to when you say D8TE which reflects 1978? Where is it located (I assume) on the engine?
Is D8TE cast on the engine block or head? Or it is printed on an emissions decal?
If it's printed on an emissions decal, the decal is located on the valve cover. Is the engine a 6 or 8 cylinder? If an 8, how many valve cover bolts per side does it have?
A D8TE emission decal does not mean the engine was swapped, it's possible only the valve cover was swapped.
First. let me apologize bc I was incorrect. I know better than to type while fussing at my 4yr old daughter to leave the nasty engine parts alone. lol She likes to help but at that moment, she really wasn't.
The truck is a 72 F100. It came with a dead 460. We'd like to put a 360 or 390 in it, but, since we haven't found one around here, we are cleaning up the 460 for a probable rebuild. Although, my son will be driving this and I'm not enthused at my son having a 460. lol We'd like to make it as original as possible, along with the 67. So, that's why we are looking for the sticker. It's original to the engine, not necessarily the truck. Also, we still need to replace a few things. So, website recommendations will be welcomed and appreciated. We have plenty of time before my son will be driving.
This truck was to be a parts truck for the 67 my husband is working on. But, my son saw it and well, I'm sure you all know how that works. lol THANK YOU!! Trending Topics

If you want to go original on that truck, check the warranty plate on the Driver's door. Assuming that it's the original plate for that truck, it can be decoded to determine which engine the truck was originally supplied with. Post it in here or run a search for "VIN Decoder" (make sure you get the right decoder for your year of truck).
Make it a point to explain to your son that trucks don't have to go fast to do their job. Their job is to haul things, so if the springs and shocks don't groan once in a while, the truck's not earning its keep!. On nice thing about these old trucks is that there's plenty of armor around the Driver, should they happen to hit something.
Assuming that it's the original plate for that truck (compare VIN on Warranty Plate to VIN on registration to see if they match), it can be decoded to determine which engine the truck was originally supplied with.
1968/72 F100: A = 240 I-6 / B = 300 I-6 / G = 302 2V (1969/72) / H = 390 2V / Y = 360 2V
If the VIN's do not match: People replaced damaged left doors with used doors. 99.9% of the time, they failed
to install the original Warranty Plates on the replaced doors.
