Looking to buy a brand new engine for the 78 f150 4x4. Has the 351m in it now but had major knock. Any suggestions on where to find on the internet complete engines to go in the ford? I am in the process of completely re doing the whole truck so will have the transmission gone through also. Thanks in advance
Usually I would say be different and hop up the 351M or make it a 400 because many people swap over to a 460. But recently I turned to the dark side and bought a 460 myself and giving the 351M the boot lol.

That was a bolt-in, right? Good move IMHO.
The 460 has a lot more aftermarket support which may be important now or later (e.g. more HP, resale, etc.). Just Google "460 crate engine" to get a good batch of options ranging from stone stock to 525 HP race engines.
I am in South Carolina. Not really looking for a 15 or $20,000 race engine but I am looking to get more than the 351 m.
The 351M and 400 are tough engines and they can make plently of power. TMeyer is the best place to go concerning those engines. I myself like the 351M and 400 but I don't have a couple thousand to spend on mine and I was just ready for one of my vehicles to have a 460.
I got the 460 for cheap already rebuilt. It was gonna be used in a grandfather grandson project but the grandfather past. The father of the grandson finally parted ways with the engine this year. I also bought a 79 Bronco from them.
I completely fine with the 400. If ican find one complete that would be even better. I want to be able to drop it in and go pretty much. The transmission will be freshened up also.
