Well, I finally found one. My grandpa gave me a 1972 F100 long bed (351w) when I turned 15 and I drove it for 4 years. I joined the Military and left for Germany shortly after high school and unfortunately I couldn't take her with me. My dad called me a year after leaving and told me a big hickory tree had blown over and smashed the cab flat, and that he'd sold the truck for $75. Sad.

I finally found another that I could afford, a 70' SWB, 240 6cyl, and a 4-speed granny) And that my friends is a miracle here in Colorado. I'm going to be updating periodically with progress made. Big plans in the works. Look forward to the experience!

Really? That's one of the first things to go. Starts right up and runs well, but I like more cylinders...

I know very little about these 240s. Is it a sought after motor, or just something your looking for? Thanks!

I really, really, really want that 240 cylinder head to throw on my 300 as it raises the compression to 9.1:1. You won't have much trouble selling the head. It's because of people like you who don't want them and chuck the engines that make it really hard for people like me to find them. There are also quite a few quirky people out there who like to build up these 240/300 engines so sell it instead of scrapping it because someone out there will want it.

I wish shipping something so heavy wasn't so expensive because I want a 240 head pretty bad.

Hey now, I never said anything about throwing it out or scrapping it. You assumed it. I appreciate these trucks and I know i ts getting increasingly harder to find parts.
If you are still looking around for one when I do the engine swap, ill let you have the head for free + shipping. Ill have no need for it.

I was more referring to the general populus. Didn't mean you exactly but it's hard to convey that through text. Sorry.

As for your offer, thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I have a PO box in Washington so that should cut costs a little. Fedex Ground to Washington State quotes at $72 which I'm okay with. All their other options are $250-550 depending on how fast you need it here! Definitely not paying that! Hahaha. Thanks, though. I'll be keeping track of tour progress. Do me a favour though when you pull it off and weigh it. I quoted shipping at 80lb but I'm not totally sure what it weighs.

Also, thanks for the compliment. I'm sure yours will be better though if you're planning a full rebuild.

You might look into having it shipped by Greyhound bus. Might be cheaper, although $72 isn't bad.

I'm working the 408 stroker now, but I havent installed yet. Now I'm saving for a blower! Will keep you in the loop...

The below is what she looks like with the new hood, grille, bumper, rock guard and fenders. Found some doors on Craigslist for $50! Cleaning them up and installing this weekend.

Anyone have any suggestions on a 5 or 6 speed tranny that'll handle 450hp?
