Security Shut off Switch?
Hello,
I would like to put a security shut off switch on my 2001 F250 Diesel.
Has anyone done this?
What should I shut off? The starter? The fuel pump?
Would really like it to go completely dead so a potential theif does not burn out my starter and batteries trying to start it.

If you want completely dead just throw in a battery disconnect switch could even do it in the same fashion that SpringerPop did with and electronic disconnect that would require a wave over an area to reconnect the disconnect relay.

I pulled the IDM relay and took it with me a few times when I had to leave my truck in a bad spot. It won't keep the engine from cranking, but hopefully is challenging enough to beat the average thief. Too much of a pain in the a** if you need to use it frequently though.

If a thief wants your truck, and you put a kill switch in it that means the starter doesn't turn over, then that means he knows what to start looking for.
If you put a deactivation switch like Pop's little mod, then when he hotwires it, the starter will spin but the truck won't start.
A truck cranking over repeatedly will draw attention, and also help convince the thief that maybe it's just a POS and not worth the time and attention.
