This happened to me last night and this is second time that its happened this month. I crank my explorer and i get a strong crank, but it will not start. So i unplugged the interia switch, took the negative port off the battery, then plugged the switch back in .. hit the reset button above the switch and put the battery port back on.. and she started.. so i know that there is either something with the switch or fuel pump .. is that accurate.. and how should i check??
Quick check, There are 3-4 identical relays in the main distribution box, just rotate them into different sockets, if the trouble goes away it is most likely a relay for the fuel or the PCM.
If you do this do not touch anything else, so you can narrow down the problem.
Move them all clockwise, like musical chairs, the bad one will then affect the next socket..(or maybe not, if it uses a different set of contacts inside)
This link should help: http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us...rInfoPages.htm .Scroll down to correct diagram. Keep in mind that the PCM and FP relays need to work for it to start. I suggest you switch the FP relay with the throttle relay and test. If no start reverse what you did, and then switch the PCM and throttle relays.
