Did it shut off when your friend tried to scan it for codes? If so, that's the expected result of attempting to obtain codes using a generic scanner. A generic OBD-II scanner does NOT communicate with our trucks. You need a device that does communicate with the OBS PSD, and you need to obtain the specific code(s); descriptions, as mentioned above, can be misleading, and you could be chasing your tail and spending big money on parts you don't need just going by vague descriptions.
