Need some more info. Fresh oil? Had it come to temp when it did it? Will it re start when it cools down? Have you checked fuel psi while cranking? Do you have wait to start? Does the tach move while cranking? Smoke out of the tailpipe while cranking?

Welcome to FTE!

If the tach doesn't go to 200 it won't start.

This sounds like a CPS failure.

What was the code the scanner retrieved? There are several that relate to the IDM, and don't necessarily mean the IDM is the cause of the problem. When the truck died, did it sputter out, or was it like the key had been shut off?

The PCM needs to see 500 psi ICP, 100 RPMs and no less than 7.5 volts to send a fuel delivery command signal to the IDM. The IDM may need a higher voltage to operate.

A problem with the HPO system, such as bad ICP sensor or stuck IPR can prevent the PCM from seeing 500 psi of ICP. A bad cam position sensor will prevent the PCM from seeing RPM. Obviously, dead batteries will cause a low voltage reading.

IDM's do fail but not often. Usually it's water intrusion that kills them. Has it been raining hard there? You can take the IDM off the inside fender area and shake it to hear if water is sloshing around inside.

Without the error code it's a guessing game though.
