drove the truck about a 20 miles yesterday towing , got back to the shop shut it off and now it wont start. The reservoir at the front of the engine is full, the engine oil is full,the battery's are good, the tach goes up to about 250 when cranking, i have oil pressure while cranking but still no start. Its acting like its not getting fuel but it has fuel at the schrader valve. What could be the issue?
I use the truck everyday for work and im dead in the water without it. its a 97 f250 4x4 non extended cab with a built auto. It is completely bone stock.
If the tach works then wouldnt that mean the cps is still good. I replaced it about 2 years ago.fuel in bowl, but no smoke. It wont even sputter,
ive checked all fueses everywhere. the glow plugs are working. the light does come on. Its 50* here so no gelled fuel. FPR Screen????????
Just cause the tach moves doesn't mean the CPS is good. Sometimes it acts strange.
on the drivers side of the fuel bowl, there is an inlet on the top of the inside of the bowl. cut an end off a q-tip so its just the cardboard, and use that end to clean the junk off the screen.
If your filter is black and slimy when you pull it out, then there is deff your problem with algee.

If you are getting a WTS light
Try starting it with the ICP sensor dis connected ....

whats the pressure? possibly the second stage of the fuel pump not working? try a fuel injection pressure guage. you can have a fuel filter bowl full of fuel and no pressure to the injectors. had this problem not long ago. turns out the lift pump was working but the high pressure pump had failed. I had been using b-20, and it cleaned the entire system and deposited EVERYTHING it cleaned on the fuel filter and the FPR screen too. you could clean the screen by reaching into the opening with a q-tip with the fuzzy stuff removed, but I unbolted it from the side of the fuel filter and removed what looked like a wool blanket from the screen.
Welcome to FTE dstad! A fuggard up truck is what brought me here too!
WTS=Wait To Start (light)
ICP=Injector Control Pressure (sensor)
ICP is located up font in the engine to the right of the fuel filter housing. It has 3 wires plugged in to it.

Fuel Regulator Screen Cleaning
The fix is simple. Take off the cover over the fuel filter, 1/2 socket does the job. Place a towel or shop rag under the fuel regulator!!!! There are two 10 mm bolts just to the right of the fuel filter, take both out making sure you put them back the way they came out. Gently pry the fuel regulator away from the fuel filter housing, making sure you don't drop the o-ring. You will see a small screen about 1/4 inch. Using a small screwdriver or q-tip w.out the cotton ball on the end, wipe the screen and then put everything back together. The material you get off the screen I have been told is from o-rings. The fix will only take 15 to 20 minutes. If you find the regulator is blocked, clean it, install new fuel filter, and it shouldn't need to be done again for 12 months.
Replace your black cover and you are ready for a test drive to see if you made any difference. You should definitely feel a difference in throttle response. You will actually have more boost pressure.
It may even be the IDM (Injector Drive Module). This located on the fender under the driver side hood spring (3 10mm bolts and 10mm wire harness bolt. Take it off and give it a good shake, hear water? If you do it is bad.
