Came home from work last night (about 30 miles) got 1/2 mile from the house and the truck sounded like it was running out of oil. Loud banging noise. Was able to drive it home, checked the oil and all other fluids and all are OK. It has two one week old batteries, new oil filter, new air filter and the anti freeze level is good.
No leaks in on the driveway and nothing wet anywhere around the engine. Does anyone have any ideas???
Ball park guess, check under the valve covers. Generally when people report hearing loud noises from the engine they end up being a lifter or something.
If you have fuel starvation problems, like plugged up mixing screens in the tank it will make the injectors really noisy, much like air in the fuel like Tugly said. It will make white smoke at the same time though.
