Differant stearing problem

My truck some times after taking a 90* corner suddenly has a 1/4 turn of play in the steering until I've corrected it back and forth about 5 times and then goes back to normal

The PO had told me he changed to steering box with a used one from an 02 SD It feels like they tightens it a bit much since it's normally has about 1" play in the wheel does not like to fully come back to centre and is kind of tiring to drive long distance on the hi way
The steering box has a slow leek as well

Does this sound like a should change the box?
Thanks

Ii jacked my truck up to check the bearings there is no movement up, Down or Left right.

I noticed the aluminium wheels were warm after a 40Km drive and the wheel did not spin as free as I tough it would ... by the time I raised the other wheel it was cooler and spinning better.
there is a lot of noise when Im driving on rough roads (after this winter thats all of them)
thanks for the help
