Steering box question

my steering box has alot of play in it and when turning the steering wheel the shaft that goes into the box does alittle bump (it moves about 1/4" up and down as it turns) is there any way to adjust it or is it time to replace it? the truck is a 89 f250 4x4 thanks alot.

Steering box question

you can adjust the steering gearbox, but it wont take up a lot of slack. i'd say the box needs replaced if it moves like that when you turn it.
