Hey all, I just bought an '01 Limited Ex with the 7.3. I bought it from out of state and it is not as nice as I'd hoped. Found out when I got the title that it's a repo, which makes the state of the vehicle more clear.
One of my first non-mechanical issues that I need to deal with is that it is missing the jack and all the underhood components that go with it. I have the brackets that hold all the underhood parts, but nothing there or in the jack compartment.
I can't find any Excursions in the local salvage yards, but they have some superduty's and some Expeditions that they think might be compatible. Is there another vehicle I can pick all the jack parts from? Also, is there some sort of screw or bracket in the jack compartment that holds the jack in or does it just fit in there in some obvious (or not obvious) way?
Thanks, it looked the same in pictures. Just wanted to confirm I wouldn't need to find an Ex anyway to get a bracket or something. I'll swing by and see what they've got in the yard. Hopefully I can find a decent wheel/tire combo for a spare also. You should see the tire on the spare in the back of this thing.
Mine didn't have a jack when I got it. I just bought one at Harbor Freight. I think it is a 12 ton model. Fits right in the stock location. Got it on sale and used a coupon too. Good deal.
Thanks, I went to a local salvage yard this weekend and nothing had a jack in it. I asked if they removed them and sold them separately, they said no, they are just popular and go quickly. So I bought a full set off eBay. Probably paid too much, but at least I'll have it. 3-5 boxes a day full of parts showing up lately. Hopefully enough will show up that I can do some of the big stuff this weekend. Didn't get much done this weekend because I was waiting for a part here or there.

An 8 to 12 ton bottle jack is much better that the stock one anyway. My 3 Ton floor jack has a hard time lifting it
