Need a new jack...

Howdy Y'all,

I finally cleaned out the beast this weekend, and noticed a couple of bracket thingys on the pax side behind the rear seat. Hmm. Wondered what they might be for. I knew the jack handles and such are under the hood, but didn't see the jack itself. Double Hmm. So after some head scratching I realized the previous owner had removed the jack from its normal hiding place. Upon searching the garage I found the jack: a rusted mess. The PO was a landscaper and left the jack in the toolbox with all the fertilizer and such. It's a nice doorstop now. So I'd like to get another factory jack, to mount in the factory spot.

It's a good thing I haven't had any tire problems away from home, otherwise I'd have been mighty upset to find out I had no jack!

Anyone know where I can get a new (or good as new) factory jack for a 1999 250 SD?

Thanks!

chris

Probably one of your best bests for an original OEM jack would be the local junkyard or maybe looking at Ebay. Alternatively, they do sell single piston jacks that are just about the same size as the OEM one. Just make sure the tonnage is correct.

Go to sears an buy yourself a good bottle jack. It will fit in the same spot. If you donot have the little rubber strap to hold it down you can use a small bungie cord.

I wanted an oem jack as well untill I went to my dealer and found out how much. Over $150, so I bought a small bottle jack that works better any way.

Sounds like you are loaded like a firetruck. We (FDNY) have and use cribbing, hurst tool and maxi-force air-bags too. Now those would be real nice to have onboard!!! : )
