I just purchased a new w/p for my 66 300 I6 and the body of the pump is shorter that the original and my pulley is hitting the timing cover...is there 2 different length w/p or is O'Reilly's made in China POS my problem?
I'll check that out...good thing I gave them the year! I searched older post that explain a lot about different pulleys but nothing I could find about the w/p shaft length.

There are THREE different 300 water pumps for 1965/74.
Well looks like Friday now...pulled the water outlet housing to replace the thermostat and its so rusted out the thermostat has no where to sit anymore...one of these days I'll get to spin it around the block!
I think I stole it for $600, it has power disc brakes and power steering already, offenhauzer intake 600 cfm 4 barrel carb, split exhaust manifold, pertronics electronic ignition and flame thrower coil, the old owner had just put brakes on the rear, it needed cooling system love, I pulled the top tank off the radiator you see in bed, rodded it out, soldered it back together, pressure and flow tested good, just replaced the w/p and now just need a water outlet housing, and a good flush, when i got it home i put a battery in it and it fired right up and sounds good, after i changed the oil filter and oil it idles around 35 psi oil pressure and goes up around 60 at high idle, the old owner said he thought it had a spun rod bearing, if it does it sure don't run like it! he said it had a squeal noise coming from the engine, i found the alt belt loose and a vacuum leak maybe thats what he heard!
