ok guys you win... your logic has convinced me to stay at around 38's. I am going to just get it running for now. I just bought another truck but its only for body parts. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...gory=6783&rd=1 and we're picking it up on saturday. I havent talked to my dad about this but i was thinking that if any of you guys want something that im not using i could sell it for a SMALL price plus shipping or just shipping depending on what it is. Just because how often you guys offer your excellent help and advice. I am also glad my father is so supportive and will help me with my truck. He also is making me pay for everything so i will respect it more which i totally agree with because most kids parents buy them a honda civic or something and rice it out for them. I had to get a job crawling around in hot attics during the summer putting in ductwork (but i loved every minute of it) to pay for my truck.
Sorry for all the i just wanted to say thanks.

whereabouts in pennsylvania do you live? i've heard that its a 3 hour trip so you could probably save $$$ on shipping and just pick it up.

EDIT: you did read what the guy wrote about the motor right? i cant guarantee anything as i have not even seen the truck yet. just wanted to make sure you didnt think it was a perfect motor.

update: i just got a 460 block off ebay for 102.50 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2448057445 it has been cleaned and magnafluxed. is it true that boring it .80 will give me a 514? i plan to do that or just a .60 bore. This will be an ongoing project in the basement for me and my father to work on. I would like a good amount of power. Any suggestions for parts? thanks, Austynn

No, boring .080 over will just cause your motor to overheat because the cylinder walls are too thin.

You have to buy a 514 stroker crank, and I believe BB Chevy rods.

trust me, you'll get decent power if you put on a nice set of aftermarket heads and a good cam.

and you'll get poor gas mileage too.

Do you plan to use it with EFI? I'm not sure, but if you're using that block, you'll have to have EFI. If I were you, I'd ask before I put any more money in to that block. The way I interpreted the way they were made, after 1987, they were specifically for EFI, and before for Carbs.
