On the dash of my 2005 F350 Diesel is a sliding switch that says gain/output. What does this do? I couldnt find anything related to this in the manual.

It is the integrated trailer brake control. You adjust the gain setting to tune how quickly the trailer brakes will apply when the trailer brakes are used. The slider is so you can apply the trailer brakes without using the brake pedal.
Thank you Mustang for your reply. My son in law told me it was to increase or decrease the amount of diesel when a kick was needed on a moment. Had no reason not to believe him but thought I would get another opinion.

Anytime. It doesn't do anything unless you have a trailer hooked up.

You would not want to hit that handle when towing for kick, it might send your head to the steering wheel Good save Brett
do your intial adjusting on a flat surface while going staight- parking lots ect..
you may need to adjust higher on downhill trips and curves.....
If it is to high you could do a 180 with a trailer!!
did that on a 2 lane road in Canada on snowy roads after had repairs done due to my neglenance in ice removal. shop maxed out actuactor to test trailer brakes on stands
I didn't notice till first time I had to use brakes- then I noticed RIGHT QUICK!!
no harm, no foul good learning curve- ie: nobody got killed

Just don't let your son in law ever work on your truck
My 04 late built didn't come with that option , so I had to put one in. Good thing , because I was hauling a load of concrete chunks and some lady pulled in front of my truck and stopped Hello I had to reach down and put the Manual brake for more braking you couldent have slipped a credit card inbetween the two bumpers
