So I've been having problems that 98% of 6.0 owners have. It started out with just a lot of smoke while always having power just smoke. I installed the blue spring kit and only mods are 4in tbe intake and sct with innovative tunes. So I took it to a local guy who installed new oil cooler, egr delete, a1 studs, egt probe, coolant filter, and all supporting equipment such as gaskets, etc. So I get the truck back and immediately change the tune back to the custom. Noticed the smoke train continues to roll. Truck still has a ton of power but also a ton of smoke and can't find the problem. All white smoke too... anybody else have this issue
Running a sct livewire. & it still smokes just not as much. I was told that two injectors were sticking before but thought it would have a rough idle, and misfire
Sure can. What year of truck? IIRC the 03 trucks had a different factory injector than newer trucks. The newer injector could be used if the whole set was changed. Something different with the intensifier piston i believe.
Normally I wouldn't mind buying all 8 but I just got the truck back from a head stud job. Its an 06. What's the tool used to check if they're sticking?
Are you getting any cyl contribution codes? A power balance test may help too. If one is stuck open maybe pull the injector wires one at a time, the one that does not make any or little difference would be the culprit. Also keep in mind a $150 diagnostic at the dealer may save a bunch of headaches.
I actually had a diagnosis done not to long ago that said which ones it was so then I did the blue spring and rev x and no problem any more. I'll look for the report if I still have it but I'm getting rev x tomorrow and going to talk to a mechanic about changing those injectors
