+1 on checking the fluid level but you gave us VERY little to go on. Is this a new problem, has it been gradually getting worse, did you just buy the truck, etc. We aren't mind-readers and the more information you give when asking for help, the better the help you get will be.
Motor starts but when enginging into first gear and pressing the gas pedal does nothing wheels barely turn...
Any ideas I'm Confused...
A good starting point is to check your battery. It may be strong enough to start the car, but that doesn't mean it's a good battery. I just this morning picked my car up from the transmission shop, and all they did was replace the battery to get it running right. It was doing something very similar to what yours is doing.
First gear makes me think it's a manual gearbox equipped truck we're dealing with. When you start the engine, does it sound like it's running fine? are the revs even?. Does the exhaust by any chance smell like rotten eggs? that could mean a plugged catalytic converter. We really need you to give us a much details as possible, even if they seem unimportant. Is the truck new to you? has it been parked for a while?.
That's what I thought. You didn't set the timing correctly. You can't just slap the distributor in and call it good. A 1/16" of an inch difference in the position of it will throw the timing off so bad it may or may not even start, and if it does it can rob all the power.
Search this forum for instructions on how to set the timing for your engine. It's been covered more times than I can count.
