New Trans = poop
New Trans = poop
OK. so my transmission in my 4x4 96 f250 E4oD was acting up and i lost the clutches and it sliped and wouldnt drive. So i bought a rebuilt one for 1200 with out core exchange. We got the old trans out no problem. before we put the new one in. we put the transfercase on the new trans. We also flushed out all of the translines and trans fluid cooler. Fillled up the Trourqe converter full of fluid put it on. and then bolted the trans up. Poored the last of the one gallon in to the trans before we started the truck. started it then added 4 more gallons in. shifted through the gears a bunch of times felt good. checked fluid full. Went to go try it out. Drove great nice new easy shifts felt like a new truck. Turned around heading back home kind of gave some hicup shifts. thought lets go back check fluid got back. fluid was fine. Then went to go drive again to make sure everyrthing was in working order. Started going 1st really esay going in to the nd it wouldnt go fromm 2 to 3rd. it would stick at 30. no matter if you gave it more gas or slowed up wouldnt go abouve 30.
Is there something i may have done wrong? do i have to reset something becasue of the new trans? any body got any ideas?
Im really mad i droped this money for a new trans and its acting like this. I used mercon trans fluid and everything. But can someone help me out?
Thanks in advance guys.

It holds 16.5 per cap table.
Check for codes
Recheck connectors as Mike mentioned and the MSLP/range sensor
and you may want to pull the VSS and clean it too.
At the connectors check both sides for issues
Here

If the filter slipped off you can starve the pump. Dont know your if this was a remained or what, but the o-rings have been found up in the filter reciever end and this can allow the filter to fall off.
My thoughts are its electrical

OD light isn't flashing, so I doubt there will be any codes for the MLPS or VSS. I'll get some electrical cleaner and we will pull the connectors off and clean them real good then I think we should empty 3-4 quarts and check if the MLPS is aligned right.
Talked to the guys that we ordered the trans from. Told them that we drove the truck and it shifted perfectly for the test run and on the way back it hiccuped and now we only have 1-2 shift. They believe that the solenoid pack went out in it so they are sending us a new one.
Really don't see how it can just go out right like that? But we will see what happens

It would be my luck my jeeps temp tag expired 2 days before we got the new trans in then we gotta wait for the solenoid to get here then put it in. Good thing I still got my bike. Haha.
I will be receiving my new stump puller transmission today and the builder told me that it holds 13.5 quarts with stock pan. Mine is coming with a oversize aluminum pan that holds an additional 4 quarts. Maybe try manually shifting through the gears. Does it seem like the torque converter is locking?
It doesn't move from 2nd. Stays at 30mph doesn't go over. You can rev the motor to get it to like kick over but it won't. I've tried letting off the pedal and having it just shift onn its on but it'll stay at 30.
Called the company who made the trans. said the solienod went out. they are sending me one. but my buddy cleaned all the electrical connecters like you guys said. He said hes been driving it all day everythings shifting fine. But man i was pissed last night.
Thanks for your help guys.
