Hi I was hoping some of You Guys may have done this before? I think the rod in my steering colume is wore out. So I thought I would just hook up a Start Button. turn on the Key then Hit the Button. If anyone has done this I would sure like to hear from You. Thanks Mudguts.

Yup.
To start the truck, you need to get power(+12V) to the small terminal on the starter relay - this is hanging off the passenger side fender wall, under the hood.
As an added advantage, doing this will bypass the silly neutral safety switch, allowing you to bump the starter in gear(usually only important in a manual), and use the starter to push the truck slowly if you need to.
Heck, you can bypass the entire steering column switch too, and setup a master relay instead; I've done that myself.
the old cowboy trick is to take the cover off the column and jut move the rod with pliers
Or if the horn no longer work jump the wire over to the starter relay and just use the horn button to start the truck
If your truck has a tilt column then the acutator between the ignition key tumbler and rod is either broken or bent. The steering wheel has to be removed to replace it. In the past I have turned the key to the start position and tilted the wheel all the way up to move the rod to the starter switch. Also known as red neck anti-theft.
