Completly off topic

Ok I have been working on a 1973 Pontiac lemans with gto conversion has a 400 in it with an eldebrock 4 barrel and a hei distributor on it for the first time since being put In the car we tried to start it today and after working out all the stupid little issues...

Fuel not getting to carb ( fuel line pinched, mech fuel pump bad)

It will not start!

It's getting fuel!
It's getting spark!
Check the plug wires and they are in the proper order!
It kinda back fires but 99% of the time it's thru the exhaust

Not sure where to start

Engine was rebuilt by someone else but told it ran before being pulled! Distributor was left in the engine and "not messed with"

Try a little gas down the carb? You said no fuel to carb, then said it is getting fuel. Which is it?

All that's left is timing then. There is a remote possibility the firing order is not stock, in which case you'll have to pull the valve covers and watch the rockers to see what's moving when.

Make sure the plugs aren't fouled.

Checked firing order repeatedly and we put new plugs in it after having starting issues and it still won't start

Take the valve covers off and make sure the lifters are working, also where are you getting you firing order and how are you counting the cylinders?

You need to static time it with the TDC mark and the distributor cap off to number one...Then make sure you have the correct firing order for the 400 engine. If it fires only on one cylinder you have the wrong order. the Pontiac engine had some different firing orders for some of there Engines so keep checking...
