I've read several transmission fluid bottles now that say "not recommended for Ford F type transmissions." Is this as in "F"-100, FE, or as a C6 is it safe unless it's an F6 (which I doubt exists)?
What's the best fluid to use with a C6 as those bottles likely aren't it?
My 78 c6 uses Mercron . Older units use Type F fluid . I think 77 was the switch over , I MAY be wrong though . Your dipstick may be marked with fluid type to use .
Since it's a non-stock (year wise) engine, I'm assuming the tranny is from the donor. Is there a number stamp, etc. on it that will help me determine year?
