"On May 1, 1976 the C6 transmission had a major modification to reduce driveline clunk."
"The C6 anti-clunk design uses CJ type fluid instead of type F."
Type CJ was later superseded by Dexron/Mercon and type CJ disappeared. So any C6 trans built since May 1, 1976 should use Dexron/Mercon.
