In the whole scheme of things that can be a problem with a truck this rates pretty low but I'm at wits end, nonetheless.
To tow our boat behind our 5th wheel camper I have to take the doors off of the trailer plug at the back of the truck (the camper plugs into the 7 pin RV and the boat plugs in to the flat 4). I simply pull the little pin that the 7 flat and the flat 4 doors hinge on. I laid them in the dash indentation and the little spring ended up falling down into the defroster vent. I can't see it from above and I've tried desperately to run a magnet down into them hoping to retrieve it to no avail.
How big of a job is it to access the defroster vents from under the dash? Or is it even possible without disassembling the whole dash? I have inquired at a Ford dealer to buy one but you have to buy the whole plug assembly ($65.00) and no salvage yard will sell me just the plug, they want to keep it with the bumper.
I hate running up and down the road without those doors on, the plugs fill up with all kinds of crap.
