Engine/ECU ID
I know this engine doesn't belong in the truck but the guy was straight up lying to me about it and I just wanted to get it away from him before it went to the junkyard.
So anyway, without knowing for sure what all he did I'm stuck with a few problems. The ID sticker has worn off and I want to know for sure which ECU I need to buy, I'm sure the wrong one is in it because almost all my data is inconclusive or n/a, throwing out all sorts of codes.
It constantly runs lean, and idle jumps up and down from about 800 to 1100 rpm. just back and forth constantly.
Is there somewhere else I can look? Do I need to provide more information?
Thank you!

Some of the reasons why are a smaller displacement, truck is heavier than a car, the fuel tables won't be correct, ignition timing advance curve vs load won't be optimum, and you may not be happy with the power, etc.
.
Now, since you have it, and want to try to salvage it, what are the codes?
Next is to use a Scanner and look at all the live data to see what is going on.
Otherwise you will be floundering and not know what to do.
Get a basis for your intent first then decide if it is worthwhile.
If you decide to try, you have to live with any results that turns out less than acceptable or put the correct motor and PCM in place then work out issues that have a factory basis for that year truck.
BTW, this being an 02 truck has the PATS system.
You can't just put any PCM in without reprogramming or the motor won't start.
If it runs now, the original PCM is in it that matches the dash and PATS system, so that's a clue as to what is in it now..
Good luck.
