2003 f150 4.6L turns over but won't start
2003 4.6L turns over but won't start. my king Ranch is in shop for insurance repair due to fender bender, anyway its been there since dec.6 2010 so instead of starting the truck every 3 days or so they let the battery go dead , its cold here around -16 at night. so the shop goes to boost my truck and no start, they tell me it turns over but wont fire. to make a long story short , they finally have a ford guy try to pull codes from pcm but to his surprise he can't retrieve any codes. there's power getting to the on board computer just can't pull codes. ford guy thinks shop guys fried pcm when trying to boost it, anyone else have any idea's.
majorly stressed out !!

Chief, ya gotta look for the evidence to know what has happened.
Does the truck have a security system that is now in the no start mode?
Does the fuel pump run about a second when the ignition is in the run position?
Does any fuel pressure begin to build when cranking?
Is there any ignition spark when cranking?
Is the correct key being used that triggers the PATS system?
Are any fuses blown from a possible reverse jump connection?
The data port supplies the scanner with power from pin 17. Is the fuse that supplies the power blown? You can tell right away if the cigar lighter does not work. It's on the same fuse.
Results of these observations tells you what to look for next.
With a no power situation, no codes can be set or transmitted.
Normally a good battery in full charge will last more than 2 months before running down so far it won't start the motor unless there is a system fault from the damage.
Good luck.

anti theft light was blinking, could'nt hear fuel pump working, so anyway one shop called top gear looked at it and could'nt find the problem but soaked me for 300.00 , so up next was a ford dealer, they first thought the pcm was fried because no power to pcm and could not pull codes. but power was getting to the pcm, smoke lighter was working all fuses were fine. so they checked wires going to pcm (green i think) and found they were corroded and a bit loose so they cleaned them up tightened down and truck started fine !! another 200.00 but all is well. so if anyone else has this problem check wires going to PCM it may work for you.
