I have a suspicion that you are looking at an injector issue. our trucks do not have a FICM, that is the 6.0's. I don't see too many issues with the IDM, although occasionally we have seen some that will get water logged. I would really start thinking about getting a cold buzz test done.

I always forget which is the FICM and IDM. Had a buddy had to have his replaced a few years ago along with a couple injectors, but that could have been a shop trying to make money too.

I did a cold buzz test and have 3 injectors that sound like they have a rattle, kinda like 2 injectors buzzing at the same time. They are just as loud as the others, just a little different.

Planning on trying to do injectors probably this fall. Just gotta decide stage 1 or 2's

With the 15-40 its alot quieter but I have noticed my engine runs just a tad rough until it really gets up to temperature. Coincidence or symptomatic of 230k injectors on thicker oil??/ IDK could just be crazy.

Try full syn oil and see if that helps
I have full synthetic rottella in it now, That was one of the first things I did, along with batteries, GPR, fuel filter, and ohming glow plugs and harness.

Just want to pull vc's to watch oil spouts and get compression readings before I spend the $$$ on injectors. Hopefully in a few weeks I'll have time. Gotta get some things done around here before I start a new project.

Well I pulled the VC's today. Almost no oil coming out of the spouts. Pulled one of the Solenoids and my smallest feeler gauge, .0015, wouldn't fit. Gonna leave it plugged in tonight and watch the oil spouts in the morning.

Compression test showed 6 cylinders at 375, one at 400, and one about 365. I think I read somewhere you want them about 400 and all about the same. Anyone know what the magic number is?

The high milage 6.0 injectors can get gummed up when oil maintenace is not done on time. We use an additive called archoil 9100 in the oil and it does a great job cleaning the internals and really helps with cold starting. Run it for a full 5k miles. You will be any benefit within a couple of days.

Did a boost leak test today. Tightened a couple clamps and took care of most of them, need to get some of the rubber elbows for the plastic lines.

With the tester hooked to the turbo there was air coming out the ccv. Is that normal?

Also I noticed a couple drops of oil in the degas bottle today. Will it hurt to drive it that way, i'm planning on doing the cups and injectors this fall. Just wondered how bad it was. Thanks

Yes. You will need to attach the leak tester to the inlet hose at the turbo to bypass the CCV. The CCV will bleed air into the crankcase.

That's what I did, but air was coming out the ccv.
