Need help repositioning tach needle
Need help repositioning tach needle
I removed the tach needle on my 99 F250 LD, because I was trying to figure out why it was rubbing on the display as it turned. It is in the wrong place now, because when my truck is idling, it says it is doing 1250 RPM. I moved the spindle around too when I was messing with the gauge. I installed the needle at 0 when I put it back on, but that didn't seem to work.
Since the truck has now been started, will the tach go back to true 0 when I shut it off, so I could just reposition the needle?
Any Ideas, I am at a complete loss here. Thanks in advance.

Best method is to remove the needle, connect a secondary (know accurate) tach, start engine and position the needle to correspond with the (known good) reading.
Note: if you have an OBDII scanner/laptop, it will give you an accurate RPM.
