Is there an easy way to remove the filter minder, short of cutting or breaking the filter housing where it's mounted? I want to relocate it into the metal exhaust elbow I'm now using, so I'd really prefer to get it and the grommet out without destroying it.
I tried that already. I twisted and pulled to the point I thought I was going to snap it off. At least I can be pretty sure it wasn't letting any dust past it. The stock filter box was letting enough through without any help, lol. The only reason I don't want to cut the housing is so I can be sure what size hole to drill for the grommet, but if I have to cut it, I guess I have to cut it.
Meh. Dremel tool + RotoZip bit = Problem Solved. I'm just glad to finally be rid of that stock air filter box. It was a pure, unadulterated piece of crap.
Well, that's water under the bridge at this point, lol. Now I'm not sure if I'm going to use it or not. I may just get an actual restriction gauge at some point in the future. A little bit of Simple Green cleaned it up just like new though
