It will probably break. If it does, it's probably on backorder. You should know they upgraded the pans with a built in filter in like 2007 or something and you can simply bypass the external filter and it's overpriced toilet paper filter and install the newer pan with integrated filter.
I'm not aware of any removal strategies other than put a wrench on the fitting and turn it hard. Could try a penetrant on the outside of the threads. Heat is a no go in that area. Maybe a butane torch but not sure it would do much. The problem is that it's aluminum and it just seizes. Good luck.
I disagree... They are awful about cracking. Talk to any shop that does a lot of powerstrokes and most of them have a pile of cracked ones behind the shop.
Or just try to find a replacement...unavailable anywhere. I found one in stock in the whole country and had it over nighted from Idaho or somewhere. Was told the same thing by every dealership I called. "everyone breaks them so we can't keep them in stock. National backorder."
I looked at junkyards, most of their were already cracked. A couple of them broke them trying to remove them. Anyway I'm sure there are people who get em off in one piece but there are plenty of use who could not.
If you do get it off, I'd personally lube the threads with anti seize when reinstalling.

Hopefully you get "lucky."
You will have no issues ordering one from your local dealer.
