So I've had this truck for about four years now it's in 1991 Ford F – 250 4 x 4 5.8 l
Ever since I've owned it will go into four-wheel-drive but it will only go into four hi I've my strongest friends try to shifted into neutral and or low and it will not go suggestions?
your transfer box is not stuck. it is the shifter. there is a pin that allows you to shift in to 4 high but then you need to press the shifter down before you can put it in to Low. First try this but you likley wont be able to do it if it had not been done in years. if it has not take a look at the shifter from underneath and remove the section. try to lube it real good and wack it with a hammer until either the pin breaks off or it moves.
I have had issues every once in a while while shifting into/out of 4WD. When I can't get it to move I put the gear into neutral (or drive if I'm not on a slope) and move the truck a little, step on the brake then shift. For me it seems to be more of things lining up in the transfer case correctly. Have not had a problem other than that.

there are two shift patterns for the transfer case to shift into 4 low. one is push down and pull back, the other is push to left and pull back.
I didn't really look at it today but I've tried before both those methods u speak of an it would take an active God to get that thing to move I don't know what the problem is
Ivve tried rolling in neutral to give it to move nothing
I pull up to high and then nothing else no left down will shift out but no where eles
ok. what you need to do now is remove the shifter from the t-case and clean it up real good. if i remember correctly, it comes apart after you remove the big bolt and you can split the two pieces and get all the crud out of it. then give it a good coating of never-sieze and put it back together.
His truck has the shifter with the detents you go sideways around. The push-down shifter is for 92+ years.
nope, i had a 89 F-250 at the body shop with the push down shifter.
and the 88 factory service manual shows both shift patterns in it, depending on the t-case.
1356 was to the side and back, 1354 was down and back
Don't forget to add a fresh (preferably synthetic) ATF (a little over 2 qts typically on the Borg Warner 13XX transfer cases) when you re-install. Your year calls for the Mercon ATF -- never, repeat never use the Mercon LV (low viscosity) or the straight 80/90W gear oil in these older Borg Warner units..............some have and learned the hard way........
