Jesus!!! Pound-for-pound, that's much more expensive than blood and the ever-valuable printer ink. WOW! For that amount of money, I'll make one in MS word and print it on a label and stick it on there. When it wears out, I'd click 'print' to get another.

That's kind of what I was thinking of doing. The one on there looks like a sticker covered with a larger clear overlay. If I could find the overlay (smartphone screen protector maybe?) and print the thing on label paper I could probably be into a few bucks.
There's an ebay seller offering them for $139, $75 must be a steal!

To take it step further...and still be well below $75, if you make it in a MS Word document, you could probably take it to a printing place, like Kinkos, and have it printed on something more sturdy. They can laminate it for you as an option, then you'd just need some sort of 3M double sided tape to put it on. All that might cost $10...$15? And if it's laminated and never falls off, you won't need to do it again.
That could work. The worst part would be drawing up the new sticker. I was thinking of scanning the old one and doing some touch up.
Taking this off topic a little bit, but the reason I'm concerned about having the sticker to begin with is in the event of a traffic stop while loaded down or towing. Do they check the door sticker to see if you're overweight? Or do they go off the registration?
I don't know the answer but I can imagine that cops pull over people at the sticker might not be legible. Or, as you and I are discussing, they can be faked. If I were a cop, I'd probably not use the sticker but look up the registration on my handy-dandy in-car laptop and see what that says.
In looking at the sticker in detail, I think it's 100% doable but the question would be about the bar code. I could put one in there to read the correct numbers when scanned but it might not look exactly like the original. Not like those are scanned anyway. It could read all zeros for all I know. Have fun with it
What of I don't have one there? My truck was repainted at one time and they either painted over or sanded off the door jamb so we've just gone by the dash vin but I think someday it's gonna be a pain if I get pulled over
