OBDII not working?

I test drove a truck yesterday and was hoping to gather some insight on the truck by using the Scangauge II. However when I went to connect it didn't register anything on the gauge. It works perfectly fine in all the other trucks I've tested. I liked this truck, but didn't make an offer since I have no idea if there is an issue that wouldn't be revealed by a simple test drive.

What would cause the OBDII to not work?

If it doesn't come on at all, check fuse 12 under the dash.
