Axle seal??

How do I re seal the front axle on my f350? It's leaking next to the passenger tire. Is it inside the pimpkin of the axle or ends or what?

It works like the front hubs do.

Pull drive shaft from outside and tire/drums.
Inside there is a lock nut and a wheel nut.
Off it comes. Seal is inside there.

if the gear oil is coming from the axle side and not the hub side.I believe that is your problem.Yes,front axle disassembly on a d60 front axle is required as the front diff carrier must be removed. The seals are just on the outside of the carrier bearings and driven in from the inside of the diff.
The seals are NOT cheap either.I will be replacing mine very soon and already have the seals.they go for 45$ each from my parts supplier.

Really? I just got the upgraded design (two piece) Spicer seals from Drivetrain America for less than $20 each. I haven't installed them yet, but supposedly these are the latest and greatest.

Here's a link.
52148 Spicer Dana 50 60 Front Axle Guide Tube Seal

Mine ended up being $43 shipped for both of them.

Lots of parts are mfg'ed in the same building with a different stamp on the end of the line with a different box.

We think one is better than the other when they are the same.

Other times, its the same line with better materials.

just depends on what it is.
I've never noticed any difference between seals in my time changing seals, they all seem the same.

I'll have to look at mine again because I know they didn't say Spicer on the seal. I don't recall if they said National on them or what it was.

Agreed. The hard thing is knowing what is worth paying the extra for and what is not. In this case I had read good reviews on the Spicer parts so that's what I went with. I could see a the materials making a big difference in a seal's longevity but who knows...
